The Founders
 
David Steele and Evan Macbeth are veterans of the Northern Virginia nexus of the IT industry. David is widely regarded as one of the finest software architects in the Washington, D.C. area, with experience leading development from nothing but ill-defined requirements or extremely unstable code. From these difficult beginnings, his teams have invariably delivered stable and well-functioning systems. Evan has managed successful IT projects for a series of telecom carriers, manufacturers and financial institutions. He also spent three years in New York working with major banks and insurance companies.
 
Together, their experience in the intersection between the cradle of Internet networks and the home of government technology gives Engage Reason a unique perspective on clear requirements and measurable results.     • Software Support and Development - Investment Banking

    Engage Reason staff directed and managed large-scale software development and support for three global investment banks over the course of five years. During these engagements, the distributed file system software went through three release cycles, incorporating dozens of disparate customer requirements. The resulting software is used to store and make accessible trading data to a worldwide network of users.

    Claims Software Development - Healthcare Services

    Engage Reason staff provided highly-specialized, time-critical development for an at-risk claims software release. The lead development firm faced a very tight deadline on some extremely difficult code. Our Technology Director evaluated the code, resolved a series of bugs, implemented new reporting functionality and delivered the resulting application code before deadline and on budget.

    Transaction Billing Redevelopment - Telecom Industry

    Our Technology Director designed and implemented application code ensuring data integrity, validation and uptime for a mission-critical accounting solution. The project involved redesigning, planning and developing the software to support new code, optimize queries for performance, and implement multiple, efficiently executed information cross-checks to improve data integrity. Engage Reason staff also designed and coded a data warehouse solution and automated numerous manual reporting tasks.

    Network Provisioning System - Internet Backbone Provider

    Engage Reason team members architected and wrote a complete, rules-based network tracking, management, configuration, and provisioning system in Java. The system stores every detail of every device on the network down to the level of physical/logical interfaces, as well as virtual circuits such as VLANs and VPNs. The system is able to generate a text configuration for any device on the network based on the information stored in the database. The team's system was also capable of checking the information in the database against the physical network devices on a daily basis. Discrepancies were reported to the NOC via a web-based interface. Our team was responsible for the database design, optimization, and subsequent production support.
